1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Sailing Log (“the app”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Not for navigation
The charts, depths, seamarks, water bodies, and marina data shown in the app come from third-party open sources including OpenSeaMap, EMODnet, and OpenStreetMap. This data is incomplete, may be inaccurate or out of date, and is provided for general reference and guidance only. It must not be used for navigation, route planning, or as a basis for any decision affecting the safety of life or property. Course-to-steer guidance, ETAs, and drawn routes are estimates only and do not account for hazards, traffic, weather, currents, or depth. Always navigate using official, up-to-date charts and approved instruments, and keep a proper lookout.
3. The anchor alarm is a backup aid
The anchor alarm is a supplementary convenience and is not a reliable or guaranteed safeguard. It depends on your phone's GPS accuracy, battery, volume settings, notification and location permissions, and on iOS continuing to run the app in the background, any of which can fail or be interrupted without warning. It may raise false alarms or, critically, may fail to alarm when your vessel is dragging. Never rely on it as your only anchor watch. Set your anchor properly, allow adequate scope and swing room, and keep a human watch in any conditions where dragging would endanger your vessel, crew, or others.
4. Your responsibility
You are solely and entirely responsible for the safe operation, navigation, and anchoring of your vessel and for the safety of everyone aboard. Nothing in the app relieves you of the duties of good seamanship or of compliance with applicable maritime rules and regulations.
5. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or uninterrupted operation. The developer does not warrant that the app, its data, its alarms, or its background operation will be accurate, available, timely, or error-free.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, death, or other harm, whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise, arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app, the anchor alarm, the chart and marina data, or any guidance or information it provides. Your use of the app is entirely at your own risk.
7. Purchases
The first ten trips are free. Unlimited trips is a one-time, in-app purchase processed by Apple under Apple's terms; the developer does not handle or store payment information. Purchases are subject to Apple's refund policies.
8. Privacy
The app collects no personal data. See the privacy policy for details.
9. Changes
These terms may be updated; the current version is always posted at this address with an effective date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
